REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Pindad, an Indonesian state-owned enterprise specializing in military and commercial products, has launched a cybersecurity technology division in the face of the increasingly unstoppable threat of cyber war.

"This is the newest unit at Pindad, launched two years ago, to take precautionary steps against any threat to the nation's security," the company's business director for defense and security Widjajanto stated.

According to Widjajanto, Pindad, the military defense industry, is moving at a swift pace following the evolving pattern of war in a world that relies heavily on cyberattacks.

"The patterns of war and threats have now changed, not only through the attacks of ammunition, tanks, and aircraft but also through cyberattacks," he said.

At the heart of the Pindad Cyber Advance System, Pindad has already forged cooperation with two companies: one that organizes cyber Multimatics training and technology certification company from Germany, TUV SUD.

"Pindad is currently working with several international partners to hold some trainings," he said.

PT Pindad provides the main weapon systems (Alutsista) required to make Indonesia self-reliant in the field of defense and security.

Furthermore, Pindad manufactures several industrial products in other areas, such as transportation and commercial explosives.
