President urges mayor to encourage entrepreneurship

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called on mayors to develop entrepreneurship for the interest of the local residents in their respective cities across Indonesia.

"Entrepreneurship is important to create jobs in the community," the president remarked while closing the 12th National Working Meeting of the All Indonesian Municipal Government Association here on Thursday.

President Jokowi noted that by encouraging the city mayors to develop entrepreneurship in their respective cities, it will be possible to create progress in the community.

The head of state said that besides developing entrepreneurship, the mayors should continue to be innovative and creative in running the government in their respective regions.

The current advancements in the field of science and technology requires a bold step from the heads of the region to continue to innovate and be creative in building the community and region, Jokowi noted.

The president expressed hope that the mayors would continue to work for the advancement and prosperity of all communities in the regions.

Speaking in connection with the results of a survey from the Gallup World Pool (GWP) that places Indonesia in the first rank in terms of public confidence in the government, Jokowi said GWP is a survey institution that has credibility.

According to Jokowi, the survey of confidence that places Indonesia in the first rank followed by Switzerland offers a good momentum.
