KPK names Setya Novanto as suspect in e-ID graft case

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have named House of Representatives's speaker Setya Novanto (Setnov) as suspect in alleged graft case of e-ID procurement project. Setnov allegedly has caused Rp 2.3 trillion ($172 million) in state losses from the Rp5.9 trillion project. 

KPK reiterated they have two strong evidences. "We bring him into investigation with strong reasons. We have two solid evidences," KPK chairman Agus Raharjo stated in his office on Monday (July 17).

Agus explained, Setnov allegedly involved in the budgeting process and the procurement of goods and services. "We will disclose the evidences in the court," Agus said.

According to Agus, KPK suspected Setnov has conditioned participants and winner of e-DI procurement project. 

Before naming him as suspect, KPK investigators have examined Setnov on Friday (July 14). He is suspected of violating rticle 3 or Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 31/1999 as amended by Law Number 20/2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption, juncto Article 55 paragraph (1).
