REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto as a witness in an e-ID card graft case on Friday.

"Wait a moment," Novanto stated on arrival at the KPK building at 9:50 a.m. local time on that day.

Wearing a long-sleeved batik shirt, the DPR chairman later arrived at the KPK building for questioning.

The KPK questioned Novanto in the case against Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong, who was named a suspect in the case.

The anti-graft body had initially planned to question Novanto on July 7 but he could not show up on grounds of ill health.

The KPK had twice questioned Novanto as a witness on December 13, 2016, and January 10, 2017, in the case against former director general of demography and vital statistics of the Home Affairs Ministry Irman and former director of the ministry's demographic information management Sugiharto.

The KPK prosecutors believed that Novanto had played a role in the graft case related to the procurement of e-ID cards worth Rp5.9 trillion.

The prosecutors are also of the view that the graft case, which inflicted Rp2.3 trillion in losses to the state, involves several officials.
