REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The government of Aceh has been urged to be friendly to potential investors, Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf stated.

"The president urges the Aceh government to receive potential investors in a friendly manner," Yusuf noted after a meeting with President Joko Widodo on Tuesday.

He pointed out that Aceh was vulnerable to various political and security issues. The potential investors were concerned about those issues.

"I will make all efforts to attract investors," he said.

Yusuf remarked that based on data, the security condition in Aceh is safer than the other provinces.

Hence, he has urged the central government and Indonesian ambassadors to actively disseminate information on the real condition in Aceh.

"Aceh is safe. The tourists who visit Aceh have never complained about security issues. Their only complaint is about the garbage problem, and we will tackle it soon," he remarked.

In addition, he revealed that the president had called on the Aceh provincial government to follow up on the central government programs.

"We will fully support the central government programs, such as the toll road program and KEK (special economic zone) in Sabang, as well as develop irrigation facilities," he noted.
