Police let KPK forms special team for Novel's case

Senior investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Novel Baswedan, is now at Singapore to get medical treatment for his left eye. He was injured after being splashed by strong acid by two assailants on Tuesday (April 11).

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Deputy Chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Laode Muhammad Syarif said National Police has allowed KPK to form its own team to investigate the splashing toxic liquid attack case to its senior investigator Novel Baswedan.

“National Police let KPK to form its own team to speed up (the resolving of) Novel's case,” said Laode in Presidential Palace, Jakarta on Wednesday (June 21).

He exemplified when National Police had limited access to CCTV, KPK was able to help the police to access it. “KPK had the ability to clone CCTVs. Various people's movement we might know,” he said.

Laode said police support to KPK was a good step. But, he did not know when the team would be formed. “We still discussed it internally,” he said.
