REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Wiranto argued that Habib Muhammad Rizieq Shihab's request of reconciliation between National Movement to Safeguard Indonesian Council of Ulema's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) with the government was not appropriate. Reconciliation was only suitable for equivalent institutions.

“Reconciliation is a heavy term. It is between a state institution with another institution equivalent to government. It is reconciliation. There is no reconciliation between government and a civilian. The term is not right,” said Wiranto in Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (June 20).

Moreover, Habib Rizieq's legal issues were being handled and developed. Government would let the apparatus to precede the case. Wiranto added that reconciliation was not a good solution for the legal issue.

Last week, Head of Islamic Defenders Front Muhammad Rizieq Shihab requested a reconciliation forum between GNPF MUI and the government. An expert on constitutional law Yusril Ihza Mahendra said to bridge the two parties.
