Police arrest Professor Tamim as suspect for insulting govt

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Cyber Crime Unit of National Police arrested a professor of bio-chemistry Tamim Pardede on Tuesday (June 6). He was arrested as allegedly insult government through Youtube video.

The Director of Cyber Crime Unit Fadil Imran confirmed the information. He said Tamim was arrested by the cyber unit at his house in Adiloka Megasari Residence, Tangerang on Tuesday (June 6) at 00.05 am.

“He was the owner of Youtube account Prof Tamim Pardede,” said Fadil in a short message to Republika.co.id in Jakarta on Tuesday (June 6).

Fadil said there was an indication of insult to government in the videos. But, he did not describe what kind of insult he made.

“This is for investigators’ consumption,” he said.

The investigators had take some evidence, such as Tamim’s laptop and cell phone. In the cell phone, they found the Youtube account and original video recording of Tamim.
