REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Metropolitan Police has sent a red notice to the Interpol for Habib Rizieq Shihab, the grand imam of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI), currently wanted over his alleged involvement in the case of pornographic chats and pictures.
"It has been submitted after the exposition of the case," Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General M Iriawan said here on Friday.
He said investigators had conducted an expose in the case with regards to find Habib Rizieq after he was named suspect.
The expose was carried out before the Interpol and the Indonesia Police Crime Investigation Agency presented all the facts, including testimonies from experts and other evidence on Wednesday.
Iriawan said the Jakarta Metropolitan Police is currently waiting for a reply from the Interpol.
"Interpol will study it. We are waiting whether our request for red notice would accepted or not," he said.
The police had earlier named Habib Rizieq a suspect and put him on the wanted list after he failed to meet the police's summon for questioning.
The police have named also Habib Rizieq and Firza Husein in connection with the case.
Habib Rizieq is facing four charges for violating the law on pornography, which carries a jail sentence of more than five years.
