REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Observer on state security Salim Said backed President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s order in combatting anti-Pancasila organization. He remarked the president should have made such statement since a long time.

“He should not only talking. He must take action," said Salim when contacted by Republika.co.id on Thursday (May 18).

The state leader used the word "whop" to show his firmness. President said there is no bargain for anti-Pancasila organizations.

He targeted some organizations against the Constitution and Pancasila, including Indonesian Communist Party (PKI). Salim said Jokowi has chose the right diction. However, he should adjust it to the newest context.

The word "whop" ever been used by former President Soeharto, especially during 1989 and 1997. It aimed at threating any party who wanted to undermine the government.

Salim explained the interpretation of the word "whop" should be suitable with the Indonesian characteristic as a state of law and democracy.

“The problem is, it is now different from Mr. Harto's tenure or New Order. Now, if we want to whop (the organizations), we should follow the legal procedure as this is a democratic country. In Mr. Harto's era, the government whopped, arrested people. No one dare to talk about it," said him.

He insisted to support Jokowi. However, all should be taken action based on legal procedure, not by political power.
