REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Spokesperson of Indonesian State Intelligent Agency (BIN) Dawan Salyan confirmed the agency is banning its personnel to have long beard. Beside forbidding long beard, BIN also urged its personnel not to wear trousers above the ankles.
The ban was issued on May 15 through internal memo. "It was part of disciplinary act," he said when contacted by Republika.co.id on Thursday (May 18).
Dawan explained BIN never made the information mentioned in the internal memo accessible for public. Therefore, the agency will tracked on spreader of the internal memo.
"Internal memo intended for internal consumption of BIN, so it was wrong to spread it," Dawan reiterated.
Dawan said to make a press release related to the spread letter by the social media.
Previously, an internal memo in BIN was leaked and spread through the social media. It firmly stated that BIN's staffs were not allowed to have long beard and hair, and to wear short trousers (above the ankles).
These are three points of the letter:
1. Basic:
a. Heed the command of the leader of the National Intelligence Agency
b. Apply the uniform the National Intelligence Agency.
2. Based on the basic, all BIN staffs, especially those who worked in Pejaten are not allowed to have long beard and hair, and to use short trousers (above the ankles).
3.Related to the notes above, all the unit leaders are hoped to follow it up.
