National Police arrests Miryam as KPK’s fugitive in e-KTP scandal

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – National police arrested a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)’s fugitive, Miryam S. Haryani. She was found in Grand Kemang area, South Jakarta, on Monday (May 1) at 02.00 a.m. 

Setyo said Miryam did not resisted when being arrested. “It's true. Our officials found Miryam," said the Head of Public Relations Division of National Police, Setyo Wasisto on the same day in Jakarta. 

Miryam is a suspect of e-KTP (e-ID card) corruption case handled by KPK. The case generated Rp 2.3 trillion of state loss. Miryam was alleged for giving false information during the examination of the case. 

KPK took her to people wanted list after refusing to join KPK examination and disappeared. Lately, the Hanura political party member was arrested. She was brought to Jakarta Metro Police headquarter to be examined. After that, she was transferred to be handled by KPK. 

The Chairman of KPK Agus Rahardjo said to examine Miryam immediately. “During 24 hours after the arrest there would be a legal action to the suspect,” said him in Jakarta on Monday. 

Miryam was accused by article 22 juncto article 35 of Law No. 31 year 1999 as amendment of Law No. 20 year 2001 about Corruption. It was mentioned that everyone gave false information might be threatened with twelve years of imprisonment of Rp 600 millions of fines.
