Chinese investor wants to build power plant in Medan Belawan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, N SUMATRA -- A Chinese investor PT Sunrise International Investment Group plans to build a power plant in the area of Sicanang, sub-district of Medan Belawan with a capacity of 600 megawatts (MW).

Chief Executive of PT Sunrise International Investment Group, Yuan Hua Feng said his company was already registered as a foreign investment company (PMA) in Indonesia.

The company wants to report the plan and seeks support, Yuan said at a meeting with Medan Mayor Dzulmi Eldin, here on Thursday. 

He said he planned a meeting with owners of the land in Sicanang and for that purpose he wants for an advice that the process of building the project would meet no problem. "We are ready to pay for the land price," he said. 

He said he also wanted to discuss with the mayor possible cooperation in the development of other sectors . "We want to contribute to the city development."

Mayor Dzulmi Eldin said he fully agreed with the plan and would support development of a new power plant in the Sicanang sub-district.

North Sumatra including Medan still needs more power plants to put an end to frequent blackouts there.
