Yogyakarta governor's regulation on online taxis is ready to be signed

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X stated that the formulation of governor regulation on online application-based taxi had been finished.

“But to issue it, we need to ensure the confirmed date to implement the revision of Transportation Minister Regulation No. 32. If the regulation have been finished on April 1st, it will be useless (to issue the governor regulation,” said Sultan in his office on Monday (March 27).

According to Sultan, the upcoming governor regulation was ready to be signed. However, coordination with regional police institution and some other parties was needed before the implementation. He did not want the implementation lasted in a short moment.

Previously, although temporarily implemented, Sultan hoped the governor regulation would provide social justice. It was not merely prohibit certain types of taxi. The example of the social justice was that the conventional and online taxi should obey the tax regulation. “We want justice. They needed money to live. We should be fair,” he said.
