REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR) has formed a working committee to look into the organizational restructuring carried out by state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina. "Pertamina is a strategic state-owned company. Hence it should not be managed carelessly," Azam Asman, the deputy chairman of Commission VI on state company affairs of the DPR, said at a hearing with Pertamina on Thursday.

He added that Pertamina was able to book a highest income in 2016, but its president director was adversely replaced. He also questioned the presence of a deputy director position in the new Pertamina organizational structure. Therefore, Commission VI asked Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, the deputy for energy, logistics, and tourism affairs of the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises (SOE), and Pertamina to handover Pertamina's statute/bylaw.

He also asked the results of the consultant's Accenture recommendations, as well as consultant service cost on the recommendation of the Pertamina's organizational restructuring. The working committee will summon a number of old Pertamina officials and directors to provide explanations on the Pertamina organizational structure.

In the meantime, Abdullah explained that the assignment of the acting president director of Pertamina was based on article 25 of Pertamina's statute/bylaw. The presence of a deputy director is related to what is called 'COO' post, whose job is to connect the operational responsibility with oil marketing.
