Nias govt to investigate civil servants' mass kissing event on Valentine's Day

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- The North Sumatra Provincial Government has formed and deployed a team to investigate mass kissing event of the civil servants (PNS) in South Nias. It was happened to commemorate Valentine's Day. "The team has been investigating the case and the punishment of course will be based on the results of the investigation team," North Sumatra Governor, HT Erry Nuradi, Medan, said on Wednesday (Feb 22).

North Sumatra Governor also admitted that Interior Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has deployed a team to check the news. "We need to know whether it was an annual ritual and who gave the  the instructions," Erry said.

The case of Nias' civil servant's mass kissing event has became the talk of the community since February 14, after a Facebook user uploaded pictures of the civil servants in South Nias kissed each other in the celebration of Valentine's Day. The search results showed that the original photograph was owned by official fanpage account managed by Public Relations of South Nias regency.

As governor, Erry regretted the attitude of the civil servants because they did not respect social value. "I regretted the civil servants because their behavior was not part of Indonesian culture or customs," Erry said.

Governor still refused to comment on the penalty to be given to the Regent of South Nias along with civil servants who were involved in the case. Erry explained so far the team have not report any conclusion. "No result for now," he said.
