Police summons Bachtiar Nasir as witness in alleged money laundering case

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Crime Unit of the National Police had issued a letter of investigation with number SP.Sidik/109/II/2017. Dit Tipideksus on February 6, 2017. The investigator invited ustaz Bachtiar Nasir as a witness.  "Yes, right, (he was invited) as witness," said the Head of Directorate III Money Laundering Sub-Unit in the Crime Unit of the National Police, Kombes Roma Hutajulu, to Republika.co.id via short message service on Tuesday. 

Beside ustaz Bachtiar, the investigator also summoned two other witnesses. The police currently investigating alleged money laundering case in the utilization of Yayasan Keadilan untuk Semua (Justice for All Foundation)'s funds. "Supposedly, the three witnesses are interviewed today, but none of them has come," National Police's general information unit head Chief Comr. Martinus Sitompul said on Wednesday.

The allegation arose from the spread of fund raising posters in the social media ahead of the rally on November 4 and December 2, 2016. The two rallies that were initiated by the National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Council of Ulema's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) known as 411 rally (Aksi Bela Islam II) and 212 rally (Aksi Bela Islam III). Million of people supported the 411 rally and the number of participants reached seven million people, according to GNPF MUI.

The mass demanded for imprisonment of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) in alleged religious blasphemy. Ustaz Bachtiar is the Chairman of GNPF MUi.
