REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Observers on law and human rights, Nasrulloh Nasution, argued that the legal and political conditions occurred today arises from the blasphemy cases involving Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok. Start from the case, the national life in Indonesia is currently experiencing a crisis. "Police report is filed by one another, slandering each other, and showing the strength of each others," said Nasrulloh in a written statement to Republika.co.id on Monday.

Since the case of Ahok arose, he said, the Indonesian community is divided. Law became a tool to satisfy the desires of each group. The police on one hand were forced to satisfy the desires of a particular group to follow up the reports which have been made by related parties. 

"As a result, the police was busy with a number of reports. When the reports were connected to each other, they were still relevant with the case of blasphemy with Ahok as a defendant, " said the public defender's.

He said, it was proper if Basuki Tjahaja Purnama was severely punished. "The upstream of the troubles were made by a person. As a result, the state was rowdy. The law became a sharp sword ready to be unleashed, especially to those regarded as opponents of the authorities," he said.
