Criminalization of GNPF MUI’s figures resemble to Samad’s case

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The advisor of advocacy of the National Movement to Guard MUI’s Fatwa (GNPF), Mahendradatta, said the attempt to criminalize some figures in GNPF was resemble to the criminalization of some people in the National Commission to Combat Corruption (KPK). 

The criminalization had ranging targets, start from the KPK Chairman, Abraham Samad, Bambang Widjayanto, and other KPK leaders. He said the leaders of KPK were charged with old cases. The parties who reported them was seemed to intentionally be raised in various regions.

"They want to follow the pattern which ever be successful before. When they were suspected by KPK, some groups were immediately emerged. At the end, they successfully replaced the leaders of KPK," said Mahendradatta who were also part of the Muslim Defenders Team (TPM) on Wednesday.

Mahendradatta argued that ‘the game’ was so rude and vulgar. In a short of time, the case of Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjajanto was processed. They were also be replaced by the reason of being defendants. 

Previously, a member of GNPF MUI, Habib Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, who was also the chairman of the FPI, has been reported to the police twice, including the report in West Java Police by Sukmawati Soekarnoputri on the allegation of insulting Pancasila. He was also reported to the Jakarta Metro Police for spreading hatred by Khoe Yanti Khusmiran.

Munarman who is also the spokesman of FPI was reported by more than 20 residents of Bali due to allegedly insulting pecalang (local communities officers) in the video on June 17, 2016.

The Chairman of GNPF MUI, Bachtiar Natsir, was accused in the case of channeling donations to Syria. He is considered to channel the donation to terrorist groups. It  was immediately got an attention and is investigated by the police.
