REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The person who uploaded clip of video containing Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) statement which alleged has insulted the Holy Quran surah Al Maidah verse 51 has become suspect. The police considered, by uploading the clip into his personal Facebook account, Buni Yani has made noise regarding the issues of ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-groups (SARA).

Head of Public Relations Jakarta Police Metro Comr. Awi Setiono said there were adequate evidence to named Buni as suspect. Buni was subjected to Article 28 verse 2 Laws No. 11 of 2008 on Information and Technology with a maximum penalty of six years or a fine maximum Rp 1 billion. "Buni was accused defamation and incitement elements of SARA," Awi said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Buni's attorney, Aldwin Rahadian, regretted police decision to set his client as suspect. According to Aldwin, there has been no police investigation report prior the arrest. "Previously, Buni was questioned as witness but then he was named suspect," he said.
