REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) is not afraid after being named suspect of religious blasphemy case. He would like to have a pretrial, if allowed. "I also would fight in court just as I did in reclamation and Sumber Waras Hospital cases," he said at Rumah Lembang, Menteng, Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
Ahok appreciated the forthcoming open trial. He wanted public to watch and see the trial. "Can you imagine how embarrassed they are if I was named suspect and win in one round," he said.
Ahok urged his supporter to accept his legal status regarding the case of alleged religious blasphemy. As suspect, he promised to obey the rule. "This is not the end. I'm still running for Jakarta gubernatorial election so let's win it in one round," he said at Rumah Lembang, Menteng, Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the leader of Ahok's legal counselor Sirra Prayuna stressed there will be no pretrial for the case. He did not want the case to be polemic. "We don't want to continue polemics and prefer to prepare the next legal process," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Jakarta Regional Representative Council of the Indonesian Democratic party of Struggle Prasetio Edi Marsudi said the party would still support Ahok-Djarot Saiful Hidayat to run in Jakarta gubernatorial election. "We have no problem with Ahok legal status."
