REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Nangroe Aceh Darussalam province has applied six month maternity leave. Governor Regulation (gubernatorial) Aceh Number 49 Year 2016 on Mother's Milk (ASI) Exclusive was issued in August 2016.
In this regulation, civil servant (PNS) can receive maternity leave for six months, three month longer than it is ruled by Labor law. The happy daddy also gets 14 days leave, seven days before and after his child is born.
Six month maternity leave can support mother to give exclusive breast feeding to her baby. The first six month in child life is known to be important for child's growth and development.
The Women Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry will learn Aceh's regulation about maternity leave. Deputy for Protection of the Women rifght of The Women Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry Venettia Danes said, her ministry will learn this rule because this is Regional Regulation (Perda).
"I will learn this regional regulation then I can say the comment," Venettia said to Republika.co.id, on Thursday (1/9).
