Govt to build airport train at Surakarta

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The government has confirmed that it will build the airport train at Adi Soemarno, Surakarta, Central Java.

Minister for Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said he had discussed the project of airport train with the state-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno.

"Including the airport train service Adi Soemarmo to (railway station) Solo Balapan, along 10 kilometers (km)," he said after meeting with Rini Soemarno at the Jakarta on Thursday (14/7).

Basuki added, the airport train project will be undertaken by state-owned railway operator PT KAI.

President Director of PT KAI Edi Sukmoro has confirmed about it. Edi said the construction of the airport train Adi Soemarmo being studied further and in the stage of feasibility study.

"We form a team, we study, how much the cost, how long the process, because it depends on the land. If approved, the railway track through the toll road," he said at the Ministry of Enterprise, Jakarta, Thursday (14/7).

Edi looked presence Adisumarmo airport train can relieve the burden of Adi Sucipto Airport in Yogyakarta.
