REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President of the Association for International Sports for All (TAFISA), Ju Ho Chang, met with Vice President Jusuf Kalla here on Monday in connection with TAFISA Games 2016 scheduled to be held here in October.

Ju Hon Chang was accompanied by the chairman of the Federation of Indonesian Community Recreational Sports (FORMI), Hayono Isman.

"Many would-be participant countries have asked if it is safe to attend the TAFISA Games in Jakarta in October," Hayono Isman said.

It was in that context that the TAFISA president met Vice President Jusuf Kalla to seek assurance regarding the security arrangements.

"Vice President Jusuf Kalla reiterated that Jakarta, Indonesia, is among the safest countries in the world to host various kinds of events, including sports events. This is exactly what Mr Chang expected to hear," he said.

TAFISA Games is an international recreational sports competition, held once in four years. The last such event was held in Siauliai, Lithuania, in 2013.

Based on the decision of the TAFISA General Assembly in Antalya, Turkey, on November 11, 2011, Indonesia was named as the host for the 6th TAFISA Games in 2016.

Until now, Hayono said, 89 countries have already expressed their intent to participate in the event in Jakarta in October.

He said the TAFISA Games 2016 will be held at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, under the theme of "Unity in Diversity" and the sub-theme of "Let's Move, Be Active."

The event, it is expected, will help preserve a number of traditional sports and games from various countries in the world, including martial arts, barongsay, kite-flying, gateball, parkour and others.
