President mingles with people in Bogor in Car Free Day

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- President Joko Widodo emerged cycling at the Car Free Day event in Bogor, West Java, on Sunday after being absence for it in the city for the past one and a half month.

In the company of Bogor mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto and Bogor resort police and military chiefs he emerged from the City Hall at around 7am and cycled towards BTM and Jalan Otista before moving to Jalan Padjadjaran and entered the Car Free Day zone on Jalan Jarak Harupat.

People enthusiastically welcomed him upon arrival at the CFD area and hundreds of them jostled to approach him to take selfies with him.

One by one President Jokowi as he is also called served them.

The President wore a white shirt and black trousers riding a yellow bicycle, flanked by Bima Arya.

President Jokowi and mayor Bima Arya also visited people living below the bridge in Sempur and talked with traders and people conducting activities in the location.

At 8.30am President Jokowi returned to Jalan Harupat to again serving people who came to take selfies with him and greeting them.

People were happy seeing personally the president and shaking hands with him and taking selfies with him.

"This is the first I could see President Jokowi in Bogor," Hidayat (32) who came to the CFD event along with his wife and two children said.

Hidayat who is a resident of Tajur often takes part in the CFD event but only this time they had an opportunity to see with the president personally.

"Indeed I wish I could have my picture taken with him but I had no opportunity for it because it was so crowded and so I could only see him from afar. I hope someday I will have an opportunity for it," he said.

Khodir (35), a resident of Ciomas, said he was lucky he could have his picture with his extended family members taken with the President.

"I am glad I could see President Jokowi. He is friendly and willing to greet," Enah (50), Khodir's mother in law, said.
