REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives, Taufik Kurniawan, said that the Parliament will reject debts of International Monetary Fund (IMF), if the world institution offers debts to Indonesia.
"We don’t ask for any helps from IMF for supporting in economic crisis,” he said, in Nusantara III Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/9).
Taufik said the planned meeting between leadership of House of Representatives with IMF Director, Christine Lagarde, on Wednesday (2/9) afternoon, will discuss the global economic conditions. Moreover, the leadership of the House of Representatives will not ask for loans from the IMF to overcome the current economic conditions.
"The IMF also said that it will not offer debt to Indonesia. IMF wants to talk about the implementation of a joint conference between Bank Indonesia and the IMF," he said.
He explained that developing countries in the world that were not directly related to the US, were disrupted by economic policy that was issued by the US. The decrease of world oil prices also created adverse conditions of world countries.
"Countries that depend on the stability of world oil prices were harmed," he said.
