Japan offers cooperation in maritime security to Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Resources, Rizal Ramli welcomed special envoy of Japanese Prime Minister, Hiroto Izumi, in his office, Jalan Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (26/8).

Rizal Ramli said the meeting was to discuss steps to improve cooperation between Japan and Indonesia. "Japan offered a number of programs, the first is maintenance of the construction of ships, especially in the eastern region and Papua," he said.

Secondly, Japan offered cooperation in maritime security, for example in Selat Malaka. Japan also offered other cooperations that will be focused on marine and maritime.

Rizal hoped that the maritime cooperation plan between Japan and Indonesia could be transparent and fair. Hiroto appreciated Indonesian government who wants to run the cooperation in maritime security transparently.

"I agree with the coordinating minister (Rizal Ramli) for cooperation in the maritime," he said.
