REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- General Director of Education and Student Affairs, Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristek Dikti), Intan Ahmad, said that the ability of a number of Indonesian nuclear experts has been recognized by worldwide. One of them is a nuclear expert from ITB, Prof. Zaki Su'ud.

"Indeed, in terms of quality, our some nuclear experts are already in international level, among others, from ITB there is Prof. Zaki Su'ud. He understands very well about nuclear reactors I, II, up to the most sophisticated," said Intan Ahmad, in ITB Bandung, Monday (3/8).

The most important thought of Prof. Zaki Su'ud about nuclear energy is that nuclear is very useful if we can manage it well.

"So according to him (Prof. Zaki Su'ud), nuclear is not only for electricity, but also for health, medical treatment, and improving the productivity of agriculture and livestock," she added.

In terms of quality of human resources, the development of nuclear power as an alternative energy in Indonesia has no obstacles. However, in terms of quantity, it still needs to be developed.

"And in fact if we planned that Indonesia will move to the nuclear energy, we would have more qualified human resources," she explained.

In addition, she said, supports from educational institutions in Indonesia to the development of nuclear power as an alternative energy in the country is good enough. Indonesia has a good chance in the aspect of knowledge and human resources, but still needs to increase the level of discipline.

"Well, our job is to let people know that if it is used properly, the nuclear energy could be great benefits for life," he said.

Moreover, he continued, the Indonesian people response to the development of nuclear as an alternative energy has also been much better. This is evident from the response of the people on Java, Bali, Madura and other areas that has supported the development of nuclear energy.
