China to follow up high speed train project in Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Rini Soemarno met Chinese Ambassador for Indonesia, Xie Feng, at the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Monday (3/8).

Special staff of Ministry of State Owned Enterprises, Sahala Lumban Gaol, said, the meeting was to discuss a number of Chinese investment plans in Indonesia. One of them is the first phase of the development of High Speed Train (HST), route Jakarta-Bandung, between the consortium of Indonesia and China state owned enterprises.

"Well, there were MoU about the investment plan of China to Indonesia," he said.

During the meeting, he added, China is interested to follow up a number of projects in Indonesia; one of them is about fast trains. It was seen from the strategic and business talks between the two countries related to China’s plan of investments.

"Now, we are on a project review stage. We are expected that the project can be accelerated,” Sahala said.

To realize the cooperation, he added that Chinese Minister of State Owned Enterprises will soon visit Indonesia.

"There will be minister of China (come) and will coordinate further," he said.
