REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH -- A strong winds and heavy rain hit the regency of Aceh Besar of Aceh inflicting big material losses.

The storms slammed across the villages of Lamsie and Lam Alening in the sub-district of Kuta Cot Glie causing serious and minor damages to 24 houses of the villagers on Sunday.

Head of the district disaster control agency (BPBD Ridwan Jamil said trees were uprooted or fell to block the roads.

Deputy Regent Syamsulrizal had inspected the two villages and coordinated work to remove the ruins and fallen trees, Ridwan said.

Fortunately there was no loss in life, he said.

Regent Mukhlis Basyah had pledged relief aid for the vistoms through the district social affairs office.
