Police says criminals exploit one-stop system of dwelling time

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Tito Karnavian said, there were people who utilized one-stop system that caused the dwelling time or stays of containers at the Tanjung Priok Port.

It was means, there were people who pay a sum of money in order to quickly issue permit, so for those who did not pay, the license will be ruled out.

"There were people asked for money in order to quickly issue permit, it was too sad for people who did not have a path and it involves several brokers. There were also businessmen who already knew it could be paid, intentionally was entering the goods first, and then pay so that the permit will be issued. It should be a permit first and then the goods will enter to the port, "said Tito in Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, on Wednesday, July 29.

Tito went on, in this case there were crime indications, ranging from graft, bribery, the people who bribed and the blackmail possibility. It was based on investigations carried out during a month.

"We mapped out, the investigation was one month and we concluded there were criminal acts of bribery and gratification due to the licensing issues," added Tito.

Tito said he already made arrests to those who gave money from external and receiving money from internal. According to him, there were evidences that have been secured in the form of money worth 10 thousand US dollars from other entrepreneurs.

"He talked a lot, acknowledges that misused licensing issues involving several superiors. There are approximately six people were brought in and we checked them," said Tito.

Tito claimed to have established three people as suspects in the case of alleged bribery and gratification of permits on loading and unloading of containers at the Tanjung Priok Port in the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Trade Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia.

The three suspects, namely MU as a broker (external), ‘N’ as the staff at the Trade Ministry and ‘I’ as Head of Sub at the Trade Ministry. "We had 24 hours to determine the status of other people from the Trade Ministry," added Tito.
