'The Quran not just to be memorized'

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Quran not just to be memorized, but should be well understood (tadabbur) in order to bring benefits to everyone.

"Indonesia needs children like you (hafiz). Do not just memorize it, but it should be well understood (tadabbur). You have to be ulul albab (humans given privileges by Allah). Do not be like tapes that just reading and memorizing. It must be able to be understood," said the leader of Ar-Rahman Qur'anic Learning Center (AQL) Islamic Center, Ustaz Bachtiar Nasir, on Tuesday, July 29.

The trick was, said Bachtiar, the hafiz was not just memorize and recite, but rather try to understand and explore the sciences were contained in both the Quran and the Hadith.

"The Quran and the Hadith is the source of knowledge. If you understand it, insyallah all of you become great scholars in Indonesia in the next 10 years, 20 years and 30 years," Bachtiar said.

Bachtiar then also encouraged the youth hafiz in order to actively deepening (tadabbur) any verses of the Quran and the Hadith which were they memorized.

If the generation of hafiz able to understand the values that exist in the two guidance’s of Muslims, Bachtiar was sure all the people's problems will be resolved by the dialogue that was based on the values of the Qur'an and the hadith.
