VP warns of misperception of BPJS

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla assessed that people have the wrong perception related to the Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Health). According to him, the public believed the government invited citizens to illness because the hospital and treatment costs borne by the government.

"[There is] 40 trillion for BPJS. What the people's thinking? What comes to mind is our health policy seemed to say: hey people, when you get sick, the government will bear all," Kalla said when giving a briefing at the Bappenas's office, Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 29.

JK said that, although the government provided the budget to help people to get treatment, people still need to maintain their health. He also requested that the public mindset to be changed.

"As a result, so the illness is not the difficult case. The important thing is how to be healthy. We have a philosophy behind it, keep your healthy. We have to multiply the budget of clean water, sports, and all aspects of preventive to be precedence," added Kalla.

The government, he added, was also need to provide health facilities such as hospitals and provide other supporting infrastructure, including the provision of a football field and a decent settlement. JK also said the government was also need to encourage people to live healthier, one of them by asking BPJS Health to sponsor a football match.

"I told BPJS Health, you should sponsor a football match. So that the children will exercise, and healthy, so they will not claim a lot of budget," said Kalla. By doing so, the government was also getting its positive impact, which could save the government budget.
