Kapolri: Security funds of local election less than Rp 564 billion

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- National Police Chief (Kapolri) Police General Badrodin Haiti revealed that the security funds of simultaneously local election was still lacking. Polri proposed the security funds of Pilkada in 269 regions of Rp 1.12 trillion. However, the new funds were currently approved amounting to Rp 563 billion.

"So, only about 49.95 percent, still less than Rp 564 billion," said Police Chief at the election joint working meeting at the House of Representatives, on Monday, July 6.

Badrodin said, according to the law, the cost of organizing the elections was charged to the regional budget (APBD) and supported by the state budget (APBN).

"Until now, Kapolda (the regional police chief) and Kapolres (the district police chief) is being coordinated with the Regent, Governor, and Mayor about the security fund of local election," said Badrodin.

In addition to the security funds, infrastructure for securing the simultaneous local elections on December 9 was still lacking. From the list of police’s requirements for the security, there were still many shortcomings. Police infrastructure which was already available, for example, 103 thousand means of mobility, 305 thousand guns, 50 million items of ammunition, 493 company-level unit (SSK) and supplies of Police’s crowd control (Dalmas).

"Based on police data, it is still lacking sticks, tear gas, personnel food addition and completeness of training unit," said Badrodin Haiti.
