Jakarta provincial government holds public market during Ramadan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Provincial Government annually hold public market during the month of Ramadan. Previously, Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama worried many foods were sold during the month of fasting was not qualified.

For that, the provincial government held a public market to sell basic commodities at affordable prices and also choices of betawi typical food which were quality assured. This annual event was believed to help relieve the burden on society in the event of a surge in prices.

Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, visited the popular market in Ciracas. This public market was spread in several cities, while in West Jakarta there was still no this market.

"I was given the disposition of the governor, he asked that the foods should be healthy, do not let people eat food which contain chemicals. I want to make sure the food is sold free from danger," said Djarot in Jakarta, on Thursday, July 2.

The staples were sold in the public market with low price, food packages subsidized price of Rp 25-30 thousand. In addition there were cooking oil Rp 10 thousand, sugar Rp 10 thousand and others.

"The public market awaited by the people. Especially for how we conduct price stabilization, so that at the time of fasting and ahead of Eid we give a sense of security with a stable cost of goods," said the former Mayor of Blitar.
