80 candidates of regional heads fail to participate in Pilkada 2015

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- General Election Commission (KPU) recorded as many as 254 regional head candidates in the local elections 2015 (Pilkada) came from independent lines. However, only 174 pairs of independent candidates were entitled to participate in the local elections.

KPU chairman, Husni Kamil Manik explained of all candidates were present in 269 regencies, cities, and provinces implemented the local elections 2015.

"There are 80 pairs of independent candidates who are not qualified," he said, during a hearing (RDP) with the Commission II of House of Representatives (DPR), Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 24.

Husni explained, a number of couples that failed, mostly failed because the administrative matters. Among other were concerning support requirements. Namely, the evidence collection of copy of voters identity in each area of the candidates pairs, at least 10 percent of the total number of voters in the local regions.

The evidence of such support was not only proven by the physical copy. But also soft copy files of similar identity. But said Husni, related conditions, there were also independent candidates who failed because the difference amount of support evidence of physical and software. "There was also failed due to late register. Though only 15 minutes late," says Husni.

KPU opened the independent candidates for local elections in 2015 from June 11 to 15. The opening was done faster than the candidate pair’s registration from political party lines, which opened on the next July 26.

Furthermore Husni explained, of the number of independent candidates, were recorded in six provinces, with each one there were eight pairs. Whereas at the municipal level, he said there were 38 independent candidates. It spread across 21 cities.
