REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANADO -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to inaugurate Soekarno Bridge in Manado, North Sulawesi next Thursday, following a trial period, according to Governor Sinyo H Sarundajang.
"On May 26, the community of Manado city can begin using the bridge, that crosses the Tondano river. It is the desire of President Jokowi that before the bridge is inaugurated, it must be tested beforehand," the North Sulawesi governor said here on Saturday.
Viewing the physical condition of the bridge on Saturday, Governor Sarundajang said the bridge will serve two functions and have a direct impact upon the public of Manado.
He added that Soekarno bridge will become a tourist destination and can stimulate the economy of the region, while at the same time overcoming traffic bottlenecks.
"The benefits of this bridge are many and it can make a positive contribution to the regional economic movement," the governor noted.
