REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- All parties should oversee the food security process to achieve food self-sufficiency, according to Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman.
"All parties should oversee the provision of assistance given to farmers, which also includes during the harvest period, so that the production of rice can improve food security," Andi stated here on Monday (20/4).
The agriculture minister revealed that he has cooperated with several parties in a bid to expedite the food security process.
"The military and police officials are also involved in surveillance to improve food security," he affirmed.
According to the minister, several efforts have been made to improve rice production in order to support food security by increasing the area for rice cultivation to hundreds of thousands of hectares.
"Besides this, the budget for farmers should be increased, so that they can increase rice production in several provinces across Indonesia, he noted.
