Govt to build border posts in N Kalimantan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUNUKAN -- The Indonesian government will soon build several border posts in North Kalimantan province bordering Malaysia.

Most of the border posts will be built in Malinau district, North Kalimantan, commander of border security task force of airborne infantry battalion 433/Julu Siri Lt. Col. Agustatius Sitepu said on Thursday (16/4).

Several border posts in Nunukan district which are no longer worth using will be renovated, he said.

"The construction of the border posts which belong to the government's short-term program will soon be realized," he said.

Sitepu said Sei Kaca border post which is not far from Nunukan island is being renovated. A new border post will likely be built in Seimenggaris Lama area.

The Sei Kaca border post which has become cause for concern has come close to collapsing, he said.
