Boxing, Indonesia sets target to become overall champion

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia which will host the 22nd President's Cup boxing competition scheduled to be held in Palembang, South Sumatra, on April 19 to 25 this year, has set a target to become the overall champion of the event.

"Being a host, we wish to become an overall champion. The number of trophies (to be) grabbed depending on 12 number of games that will be followed," secretary general of the central executive board of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (PP Pertina), Martinez dos Santos said here on Thursday.

Indonesia will field three teams totaling 36 boxers, including 10 boxers from national training center.

During the 21st President's Cup boxing competition in 2011, Japanese team became the overall champion.

The 22nd President's Cup boxing competition will be participated in by 25 countries including Indonesia prior to the SEA Games in Singapore.
