REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Suspended Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Bambang Widjojanto, paid the National Police Headquarters a visit on Tuesday, February 24, to submit a letter to Deputy Police Chief Comsr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti. Accompanied by 10 lawyers, Widjojanto arrived at the police headquarters at around 2:00 p.m.

The purpose behind his visit to the police headquarters was not to fulfill a summons for questioning from the Criminal Investigation Body (Bareskrim), but to submit a letter to Haiti and Director of Economic and Special Crimes Brig. Gen. Kamil Razak. "We will submit this letter to the honorable officials, the deputy chief of the National Police and the director of economic and special crimes," he said.

He added that the letter contained information on subjects officials of the National Police Headquarters were required to clarify. It requests for a copy of the official investigation report and the additional article in the case against him.

"Today, we only presented a letter," Widjojanto's lawyer, Lelyana Santosa, affirmed. She asked the police to submit a copy of the official investigation report to her client.

Widjojanto will fulfill a summons for questioning from the police only after receiving a response from them.

He was named as a suspect for allegedly ordering a witness to provide a false testimony over a West Kotawaringin district head election dispute in 2010. He was suspended from his position as the KPK deputy chief following the issuance of a presidential decree.
