REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KOTABARU -- Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister Ferry Musyidan Baldan has said he is reviewing the annual collection of land and building (PBB) taxes.

"My office is thinking of and carrying out assessment on the annual collection of land and building taxes," the minister said when handing over 26,900 certificates in Kotbaru District, South Kalimantan, over the weekend.

He said that God created the land only once, but why the PBB taxes should be paid every year. The people have to think of their PBB payments each year.

"It is normal to collect PBB tax when the land or building documents are issued for the first time. But it is not normal to collect it every year," he said.

The building tax is in one with the land and building taxes. For the land alone, the tax has to be paid.

"Is it reasonable for the tax of a house we are residing to be collected every year?. We build it with our own money. We repair ourselves if there is damage or leakage but we still have to pay building tax. We feel this matter should be corrected," he said.
