REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Police confirmed that Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bambang Widjojanto has been arrested on Friday morning (23/1).

Police said Bambang was arrested as a suspect in the case of false testimony in the Constitutional Court (MK).

"Criminal Investigation (Bareskrim) has arrested Widjojanto," said Head of Public Relations Division, Inspector General Ronny F Sompie in a press conference at Police Headquarters, Friday (23/1).

Ronny explained the case was about false testimony in an election dispute of West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan in 2010. This is an old case but the Police have just received a report on January 15.

Police investigators immediately found two valid evidences to examine Bambang as a suspect and arrest him in Depok on Friday (23/1) morning. Bambang allegedly ordered witnesses to give false testimony in the election dispute.
