REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Educational inequality will cause injustice, and therefore, the government should give priority to the education sector and provide adequate funding for its development, stated Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

"The government indeed should pay greater attention to the education sector and set aside 20 percent of the state budget for the sector," Kalla remarked here on Friday (19/12) while seeing off some 52 young teachers to various parts of the country as part of the Indonesia Teaching Movement.

Kalla stated that education is an integral part of national development and progress as no nation can progress without prioritizing education.

The vice president noted that the government realizes the importance of education and hence has allocated significant amount of funds to the education sector.

However, he pointed out that advancements in education often clash with the local cultural values in some areas.
