REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo denied knowing that Minister of State Owned Enterprises (SOE) planned to sell office of Ministry of Minister of State Owned Enterprises in Merdeka Selatan Street, Central Jakarta. He said that government must consider the plan thoroughly.

"I have not heard about the proposal, but we should calculate first," Jokowi said after attending National Development Planning Consultation (Musrembangnas) on Thursday, December 18.

The former Governor of Jakarta said that he supported efforts towards efficiency within the ministries, but he warned that every plan should be studied. Earlier, Minister of State Owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno stated that she planned to sell the ministry's office for the sake of efficiency. The 22-story building is considered too big for 260 staff. The old building also needs high maintenance.

Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Fahri Hamzah, said that the minister failed to understand the mechanism of state financial management. He said that the procedure of selling state assets was not easy. "It is complex and controversial," he said.

Hamzah said that government could take easier way to be efficient. One of them is by decreasing the list of constructing new building. "Scrape the plan of new building in state budget," he said.
