REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- House of Representatives urges government to build quarantine in Entikong, West Kalimantan, near border with Malaysia. The quarantine can tackle the problem in the area, which is food distribution.

"We cannot let Indonesians who live near border depend on Malaysia," Vice Chairman of Commission IV at the House E Herman Khaeron said on Friday, November 28.

Parliament and government plan to build quarantine near Indonesia-Malaysia border to cut dependence on neighboring country. However, the move is hampered by the recovery of protected forest. The lawmaker promised to prioritize the process of the recovery.

"We will finish the process of recovery in Entikong," he said.

The quarantine is important for Indonesia as Entikong will be a strategic entrance for goods and people from Malaysia. Laws on Quarantine will be revised soon to boost food supply.
