Govt prepares up to 100 fishermen's special cards as pilot project

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Maritime and Fishery Affairs Susi Pudjiastuti will hand in 50 to 100 special cards to fishermen as their pilot project aims to ease fishermen from the negative impact of fuel price hike. Those cards will be firstly issued in Java Island.

Secretary General of the ministry Syarief Widjaja said, the pilot project, implemented in Lamongan, East Java. 

"We already have the budget," Widjaja said on Sunday, November 23.

Government carefully select fishermen who will obtain the cards. Widjaja said that the ministry was hand in hand with state-owned oil company Pertamina and the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas). In order to get the detail of the transaction, the card procurement is cooperated with banks. 

"We hope there will be no leakage," he said.

The fishermen can use the cards in appointed dealers. He said that government still prepared the dealers. Currently, there are 327 Diesel Package Dealer for Fishers in Indonesia.
