REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDARLAMPUNG -- The delay in the construction of the Sunda Strait Bridge (JSS) to connect Java and Sumatra islands will have no impact on the infrastructure development in Lampung province, stated Lampung Governor M. Ridho Ficardo.

"Infrastructure development, including road repairs and construction in Lampung, will not be affected by the delay in the JSS mega project over the Sunda Strait from Banten to Lampung," Governor Ridho remarked here on Monday (17/11).

He noted that road infrastructure development in Lampung province will continue to be the local government's top priority as Rp1 trillion of the budget had been set aside for development.

The governor remarked that a coordination meeting with all district heads and mayors in Lampung has been held to discuss the future of infrastructure development in the province.

With regard to the delay in the JSS project, the governor emphasized that it would not pose a serious problem as an alternative solution to the matter had been identified.

Ridho further explained that instead of going forward with the JSS project, the docks at Bakauheni port will be improved, so that the community can enjoy better sea transportation services.

"The primary function of sea transportation as an access link between Lampung and Banten through the Sunda Strait needs to be addressed optimally, so as to ease the flow of goods and services," he added.
