REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan said he would soon invite former MPR chairman Amien Rais for the presidential inauguration on October 20.
"We will invite him probably tomorrow (Saturday). In essence, we will meet him before October 20," Zulkifli stated on Friday.
He said he believed that as a statesman, Amien would attend the inauguration, which, according to him, was a feast of democracy and get-together of national figures.
"All the statesmen we invited will attend the ceremony. I hope, Mr. Amien will join Mr. Habibie (BJ Habibie), Ms. Mega (Megawati Soekarnputri), Mr. SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono), and Mr. Boediono, who have accepted our invitation and will attend the inauguration" he added.
Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla will be inaugurated as president and vice-president on Monday (Oct 20). They won the presidential race on July 9, 2014.
