REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla are being accompanied by presidential guards, following the Constitutional Court's ruling on Thursday confirming their election as president and vice president.

The security of the two leaders and their families was officially transferred from the police to the TNI (military) on Friday.

"The General Election Commission (KPU) thanked the police for having carried out their task so far. Now we refer the security task to Paspampress (presidential security guard)," KPU chairman Husni Kamil Malik said at the ceremony to mark the transfer of the guard here on Friday.

He said that Paspamprers would handle the security of the president and vice president-elect until their October 20 inauguration, as well as afterwards.

Paspampress operations assistant, Lt.Col Achmad Budi Harsono, meanwhile, said the president and vice president-elect would each have 25 security personnel to assure their security.

Their wives, meanwhile, will each have 12 personnel to guard them. "Each team consists of 37 personnel. They, however, will be adjusted to the activities. We are flexible," he said.
